My name is Suzanne Jones. I am asking your support to secure the Republican nomination for the 4th Congressional District position being vacated by retiring Congressman John Doolittle.

I am running for this office because I believe that the people who live in this District deserve to have someone who knows and understands the area; someone who will carry on the conservative tradition that we Northern Californians are committed to. I believe the people of this District deserve the kind of representation that can only be delivered by someone who will be representing their own home, a place that they know well and love, a place that over a lifetime has helped define who they are. I will bring a fresh outlook to the job, one of commitment to serve the people, to faithfully represent the people, to be your voice in Washington D.C. and to end “business as usual.”

It has been bandied about that Mr. Doolittle’s retirement leaves the District “up for grabs”. Our Home is not a political plum to be plucked, or just an empty chair to be occupied by whichever career politician wins the latest round of political musical chairs. I don’t just have a “feel” for the area; I have roots in this District, and have grown along with it. Since my family came to the area in 1959, the changes have been many – and not all for the best. While progress cannot be stopped, it can be guided in ways that provide for the greatest benefit to the larger population. I will strive to preserve the quality of life that is the reason why so many of us make this our home.

My goals are to foster the small business environment that northern Californians are so fond of, work to lower taxes, and to reduce the size of government. Simply put, to reward the producers and grow the economy. I believe it was President Reagan who said “A rising tide lifts all boats”, meaning that a growing economy is of benefit to all. I will strive to retain the conservative values of the area, and to secure our borders and enforce the immigration laws. I believe that National Security is a primary job of the Federal Government. I am the daughter of a World War II veteran and the wife of an Army Officer. I understand the ethic that brings a person to make the commitment to serve a purpose larger than themselves, and therefore I am a strong supporter of the brave men and women of our Armed Forces, also Veterans and Retirees

If you elect me, I will represent you with humility, honesty and the common sense God gave me. My priorities will be what is best for our District and for the Country. If the concept of common sense is beyond the comprehension of our leaders in Washington, then our government is truly out of control. If new solutions are to be achieved then new thinking is necessary. Business as usual will not get it done.

We can start a new chapter in the History of our Great Nation. We can begin to change the culture in Washington. I will make the commitment to be part of that change if you will support me in the June 3rd primary election.
