| I am a
conservative Republican from northern California. I grew
up in Citrus Heights and resided there since I was 4
years old. I moved to Placer County 16 years ago in 1992
when my husband retired from a career in the U.S. Army.
We left California for several years while the Army sent
us around the country and the world, however northern
California has remained our permanent home of record
where we vote and pay taxes.
I
graduated from Mercy High School in Carmichael, attended
and graduated from California State University,
Sacramento with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological
Science (Human Biology) and a minor in Chemistry. Then
later in life, I graduated from Lincoln Law School in
Sacramento with a Juris Doctor degree and passed the
California State Bar Exam. I have devoted a large part
of my life to supporting my husband while he served our
country in the U.S. Army, and I accompanied him around
the world experiencing many diverse cultures and
nationalities. After his retirement we lived in Saudi
Arabia for five years, where I worked for Department of
the Army also with a culturally diverse staff.
I have
very high personal and professional standards. I believe
honesty and integrity are everything. I have been
successful in all my endeavors; I am dedicated, loyal,
and hard working. I don’t just have a “feel” for the
area - I have roots in this District, and have grown
with the area. I remember when Citrus Heights and
Roseville were largely cow pastures where dilapidated
barns marked the rolling landscape.
I have
worked for small businesses and know first hand the
difficulties that small businesses face with the costs
of health care, workers’ compensation and unemployment
taxes. I have worked in the food service industry and
experienced how prohibitive those same outrageous costs
are to the small and medium size business owner. I have
also been a small business owner myself and have
experienced the challenge of hiring employees or
settling for doing it all yourself.
I have
worked in the Civil Service arena when I worked for the
Department of the Army in Europe, and Saudi Arabia. More
recently I have experience working in the California
state educational industry. As a result, I have
experienced many walks of life and have first hand
knowledge of hard work, of the challenges of getting a
higher education to enable myself to do more in life and
most important I have a great deal of experience as a
member of the forgotten hard working middle class that
does not qualify as low income and yet does not rise to
the level of what some consider “wealthy.” This is who I
am and who I believe you to be - the people who make
America work.
I love
California! I have been all over the world and there is
no place else like Northern California. That is why
California is my home and why I am so passionate about
preserving Northern California as we have known it as
well as preserving the conservative tradition that
northern Californians believe in. I am a part of this
northern California community and I understand the
nuances, I know the challenges that we all face
everyday. I conduct business here in the District, and I
experience life in this District on a daily basis. I
feel that I have the best perspective on this District
and you, its constituents. When you combine this with my
passion to represent the people and let their voices be
heard in Washington, you’ll find that I am a candidate
with a dogged determination to make a difference. |
